SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 6

DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.




4. Remove the rear seat.
5. Locate the right rear fuse center (1) under the rear seat. Remove the fuse center top cover.
6. Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the right rear fuse center.

IMPORTANT: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

7. When disabling the roof rail module, go to step 8. If the side impact sensor (SIS) needs disabling, go to step 11.




8. Remove the right rear sail panel.
9. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (1) from the right/passenger roof rail module connector (2).
10. Disconnect the right roof rail module yellow connector (3) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).




11. Remove the right center pillar trim panel.
12. Remove the SIS CPA (1) from the right SIS connector (2).
13. Remove the SIS connector (2) from the SIS (3).

ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. When enabling the SIS, proceed to step 3. If the roof rail module needs enabling, go to step 6.




3. Connect the SIS connector (2) to the SIS (3).
4. Connect the CPA (1) to the SIS connector (2).
5. Install the right center pillar trim panel.




6. Connect the right roof rail module yellow connector (3) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
7. Install the CPA (1) to the right roof rail module connector (2).
8. Install the right rear sail panel.




9. Install the SIR fuse into the right rear fuse center (1).
10. Install the right rear fuse center cover.
11. Install the rear seat.
12. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
13. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
