Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement



Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (LP1, LY7)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
2. Remove the air cleaner intake duct.
3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Remove both front wheel and tire assemblies.
5. Remove the front air deflector.




6. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the A/C compressor bracket.




7. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the engine cradle.




8. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt from the power steering gear.
9. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.




10. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering gear (2). Discard the O-ring seal (3).




11. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering pump (2).
12. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.




2. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the power steering gear.

Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to power steering gear routing bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




3. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the engine cradle.

Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to engine cradle routing bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




4. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to the A/C compressor bracket.

Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to A/C compressor bracket routing bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).





Important: Install a new O-ring seal (3) on the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose prior to installation.

5. Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering gear (2).

Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).




6. Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose (1) to the power steering pump (2).

Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe/hose to power steering pump fitting to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

7. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
8. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
9. Install the front air deflector.
10. Install both front wheel and tire assemblies.
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Install the air cleaner intake duct.
13. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
