Automatic Door Locks Inoperative
Automatic Door Locks Inoperative
Test Description
Step 1 - Step 6:
The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.
3.This step determines if the door jamb switch, also known as the door open switch, may be the cause of the malfunction. If the status of any door is interpreted as open, the rear integration module (RIM), which is the door lock master, will not permit the doors to automatically lock. If the scan tool display indicates that the door open/jamb switch is active when in fact the door is closed, it is likely that a failure has occurred to the door open/jamb switch or its circuits. Since the door open/jamb switch also controls courtesy lights, this failure is diagnosed in Lighting Systems.
The door open/jamb switch must not be confused with the door ajar indicator switch, which has no affect on door locks.
