SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 8
DISABLING PROCEDURE
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the rear seat.
5. Locate the right rear fuse center (1) under the rear seat. Remove the fuse center top cover.
6. Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the right rear fuse center.
IMPORTANT: With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
7. Remove the right rear sail panel.
8. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (1) from the right/passenger roof rail module yellow connector (2).
9. Disconnect the right roof rail module yellow connector (3) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
10. Remove the passenger/right sound insulator from the instrument Panel (I/P) (3).
11. Remove the CPA from the I/P module yellow connector (1).
12. Disconnect the I/P module yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
13. Remove both CPA locks from the passenger/RF side impact module and seat belt pretensioner yellow connector (1) located under the front of passenger seat.
14. Disconnect the RF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector (1).
15. Remove the driver/left sound insulator from the I/P (2).
16. Remove the CPA from the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1).
17. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (3).
18. Remove both CPA locks from the driver/LF side impact module and seat belt pretensioner yellow connector (1) located under the front of driver seat.
19. Disconnect the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector (1).
20. Remove the left rear sail panel.
21. Remove the CPA (3) from the left/driver roof rail module yellow connector (2).
22. Disconnect the left roof rail module yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
ENABLING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Connect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (3).
3. Install the CPA to the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1).
4. Install the driver/left sound insulator to the I/P (2).
5. Connect the driver/LF side impact module and seat belt pretensioner yellow connector to the vehicle harness yellow connector (1) located under the front of driver seat.
6. Install both CPA locks to the LF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).
7. Connect the left/driver roof rail module yellow connector (1) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
8. Install the CPA (3) to the left roof rail module yellow connector (2).
9. Install the left rear sail panel.
10. Connect the passenger/I/P module yellow connector (1) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
11. Install the CPA to the I/P module yellow connector (1).
12. Install the passenger/right sound insulator to the I/P (3).
13. Connect the passenger/RF side impact module and seat belt pretensioner yellow connector to the vehicle harness yellow connector (1) located under the front of passenger seat.
14. Install both CPA locks to the RF side impact module and pretensioner yellow connector (1).
15. Connect the passenger/right roof rail module yellow connector (3) to the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).
16. Install the CPA (1) to the right roof rail module yellow connector (2).
17. Install the right rear sail panel.
18. Install the SIR fuse into the right rear fuse center (1).
19. Install the right rear fuse center cover.
20. Install the rear seat.
21. Use caution while reaching in and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.The AIR BAG indicator will flash then turn OFF.
22. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle if the AIR BAG warning indicator does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information.
