Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement



Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (LS2)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove the accessory drive belt.
3. Remove the power steering pump pulley.
4. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt from the generator.




5. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe (1) from the power steering pump (2).
6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
7. Remove the front air deflector.




8. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt (1) at the cradle.




9. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet pipe from the power steering gear. Discard the O-ring seal.
10. Remove the power steering gear inlet pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Important: Loosely install the pressure line and retainers before tightening.

1. Position the power steering gear inlet pipe to the vehicle.




2. Loosely install the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt (1) to the cradle.





Important: Install a new O-ring seal on the power steering gear inlet pipe before installing it to the power steering gear.

3. Loosely connect the power steering gear inlet pipe to the power steering gear.
4. Lower the vehicle.





Important: When installing the power steering gear inlet pipe into the power steering pump a distinct click should be heard when the pipe is fully seated.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

5. Connect the power steering gear inlet pipe (1) to the power steering pump (2).

Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe fitting at the pump to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

6. Install the power steering gear inlet pipe routing bolt to the generator.

* Tighten the power steering gear inlet routing bolt at the generator to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
* Tighten the power steering gear inlet routing bolt at the cradle to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
* Tighten the power steering gear inlet pipe to gear fitting to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

7. Install the power steering pump pulley.
8. Install the accessory drive belt.
9. Install the air cleaner assembly.
10. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
11. Install the front air deflector.
