Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Engine Compartment

Removal Procedure






Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution.


Notice:
* Do not repair the fuel feed or return pipes.
* Replace the fuel feed and return pipes with original equipment or with parts that meet the GM specifications for those parts. The replacement pipe must have the same type of fittings as the original pipe in order to ensure the integrity of the connection.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
1. Remove the engine sight shield.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief. Fuel Pressure Relief
3. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting at the chassis fuel pipe (3).
4. Remove the retaining nut (5) from the engine compartment fuel line bracket.




5. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail (6).
6. Cap the pipes in order to prevent possible fuel system contamination.
7. Remove the retaining nut from the fuel line bracket stud (5).




8. Remove the engine compartment fuel pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Remove the caps from the pipes.
2. Install the fuel pipe to the vehicle.




3. Connect the engine compartment pipe to the fuel rail.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

4. Install the fuel line bracket nut to the stud (5).

Tighten the engine compartment fuel line nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




5. Install the fuel line bracket to the stud.
6. Install the fuel line bracket nut to the stud (5).

Tighten the engine compartment fuel line nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

7. Connect the quick-connect fitting at the chassis fuel pipe (3).
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:

1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
4. Inspect for fuel leaks.

10. Install the engine sight shield.
