Trailing Arm Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Support the lower control arm with a suitable jack.
4. Remove the brake pipe bracket retaining nuts.
5. Remove the brake pipe bracket (2) from the mounting studs (1).
6. Remove the lower control arm to the knuckle mounting bolt.
7. Remove the trailing arm to the knuckle mounting nut and bolt.
8. Support the frame with a suitable jack.
9. Remove the front bolts from the rear frame.
10. Lower and support the front of the rear frame.
11. Remove the trailing arm to the rear frame mounting bolt and nut.
12. Remove the trailing arm.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the trailing arm.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
2. Install the trailing arm to the frame mounting bolt and nut.
Tighten the nut to 90 N.m (66 lb ft).
3. Remove the support from the frame and raise the frame into position.
4. Install the front bolts in the rear frame.
Tighten the bolts to 265 N.m (195 lb ft).
5. Install the trailing arm to the knuckle mounting bolt and nut.
Tighten the bolt to 175 N.m (129 lb ft).
6. Install the brake pipe bracket (2) to the mounting studs (1).
7. Install the brake pipe bracket retaining nuts.
Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
8. Connect the lower control arm to the knuckle.
9. Install the lower control arm to the knuckle mounting bolt.
Tighten the lower control arm to the knuckle mounting bolt to 175 N.m (129 lb ft).
10. Install the tire and wheel.
11. Lower the vehicle.
