B1722

DTC B1722

Circuit Description

The driver door switch (DDS) and passenger door switch (PDS) control the power folding or power extending functions of the outside rearview mirrors. The fold/extend motors are controlled by the switches through the fold/extend and unfold/retract control circuits. The door switches monitor the control circuits for fault conditions when power folding or power extending functions are requested prior to activating the function and during operation.

DTC Descriptors

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTCs:

* DTC B1722 01 Mirror Power Fold Control Circuit Short to Battery
* DTC B1722 02 Mirror Power Fold Control Circuit Short to Ground
* DTC B1722 04 Mirror Power Fold Control Circuit Open Circuit

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
* The ignition switch is in the ON position.
* A mirror fold/extend or unfold/retract function must be active.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

When the DDS or PDS switch the mirror fold motor control circuits to battery voltage and ground and one of the mirror fold/extend motor control circuits are shorted to ground, shorted to battery or open.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The DDS or PDS will stop supplying battery voltage and ground to the mirror fold motor and the folding/extending mirrors will be inoperative.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* When the fault is no longer present, the door switch changes the current DTC to a history DTC.
* The door switch will clear the history DTC after 50 fault-free ignition cycles, or in response to a scan tool command.
