Rear Seat Armrest Cup Holder May Separate/Loosen from Armrest (Replace Rear Seat Armrest Cup Holder)

Models:
2006-2007 Cadillac DTS

Condition

Some customers may comment that the rear seat armrest cup holder may separate/loosen from the rear seat armrest assembly.

Cause

The mounting pins (1) on the rear seat cup holder may not be robust enough for heavy items.

Correction

Replace the rear seat armrest cup holder using the procedure below:

Position the rear seat armrest to the full down position on the seat.

Open the rear seat armrest lid.

Flip open the cup holder to the outside position.

The cup holder should be open but not in the locked position.

Remove the rear seat cup holder by grasping the right outer hinge side of the cup holder. Push the right side mounting pin inward towards the center of the armrest while lifting the mounting pin up out of the slot (1) inside the armrest storage box.

Install the new rear seat armrest cup holder by inserting the left side mounting pin into the left hole in the storage box. Slide the right side mounting pin down into the formed slot and forward until the cup holder is engaged.

Verify proper operation of the cup holder assembly.

Close the rear seat cup holder and armrest lid.

Position the rear seat armrest back into the seat.
