Shift Control Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: In event of power loss the brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) switch must be manually released in order to remove the console trim plate. If no power loss proceed to step 4.

1. Lift up the console trip plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement.

Important: Wear gloves to protect hands from sharp edges.




2. Remove the BTSI pin cover (1).




3. Depress BTSI switch pin (1) to release the shifter out of park.




4. Remove the console trim plate (1).




5. Unsnap the shift cable terminal from the shifter pin.
6. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift lock actuator solenoid wire harness connector.




7. Remove the shifter fasteners.
8. Remove the shifter assembly.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the shifter assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the shifter fasteners.

Tighten the shifter fasteners to 9 N.m (79 lb in).




3. Insert the shift cable onto the shifter control.
4. Connect the automatic transmission shift lock solenoid wire harness connector.
5. Adjust the shift cable as follows:
1. Place the shifter into the N (neutral) position.
2. Loosen the shifter adjuster nut.
3. Tighten the adjuster nut.

Tighten the adjuster nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




6. Install the console trim plate (1).
