Suction Hose Replacement (LY7)
Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Remove the LH wheel and tire assembly.
5. Remove the engine splash shield.
6. Remove the suction hose bolt at the compressor.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.
9. Separate the liquid line from the A/C suction line bracket.
10. Remove the suction hose quick connect fitting at the bulk head.
11. Disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator core.
12. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
13. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the new O-rings into the suction hose.
2. Install the suction hose.
3. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator core.
4. Install the suction hose quick connect fitting.
5. Position the liquid line into the bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
6. Install the suction hose retaining screw into the bracket.
Tighten the screw to 1 N.m (9 lb in).
7. Raise the vehicle.
8. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
9. Install the retaining bolt to the compressor.
Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N.m (87 lb in).
10. Install the engine splash shield.
11. Install the LH wheel and tire assembly.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Install the air cleaner assembly.
14. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
15. Using J 39400-A, leak test the fittings of the component.
