Automatic Transmission Control Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the intermediate exhaust pipe.
3. Remove the driveline tunnel closeout panel.
4. Disconnect the shift control cable from the floor shift control ball stud (3).
5. Lower the vehicle.




6. Remove the shift control trim plate.
7. Remove the center console assembly (1).
8. Remove the electrical connector from the shift control assembly.




9. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1) from the shift lock control pigtail connector (2).




10. Remove the nuts (3) securing the shift control assembly (1) to the tunnel reinforcement.
11. Remove the shift control assembly from the tunnel reinforcement.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the shift control assembly (1) to the tunnel reinforcement.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

2. Install the nuts securing the shift control assembly to the tunnel reinforcement.

Tighten the nuts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

3. Connect the wiring harness connector to the shift lock control pigtail connector.




4. Install the electrical connector (1) to the shift control assembly.
5. Install the center console assembly.
6. Install the shift control trim plate.
7. Place the shifter in the NEUTRAL position.
8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.




9. Connect the shift lock control cable to the ball stud (3).
10. Install the driveline tunnel closeout panel.
11. Install the intermediate exhaust pipe.
12. With the shifter and the transmission in the NEUTRAL position, adjust the shifter cable. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment.
13. Lower the vehicle.
