Washer Fluid Level Switch: Service and Repair



WASHER SOLVENT CONTAINER LEVEL SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the hoist is clear of the left front fender to allow the lower fender to be moved away for access to the washer container.

2. Remove the left front wheel.






3. IMPORTANT: Note the position of the fender for installation alignment.

Remove the left front lower wheelhouse splash shield fasteners (1, 2, 3) at the rear of the wheelhouse.

4. Remove the shield.




5. Disconnect the output hose (4) from the washer pump. Drain the contents into a suitable container.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the level sensor (2).

7. IMPORTANT: Note the orientation of the level sensor, with the electrical connector on top.

Remove the washer solvent container level sensor (2) by twisting the sensor out of the washer solvent container.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the level sensor rubber grommet into the washer solvent container.
2. Lubricate the sensor body and grommet with washer fluid, to aid in installation.
3. Twist and insert the sensor body through the grommet until the sensor is seated as originally positioned.




4. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the level sensor (2).




5. Align and install the left front lower wheelhouse (1, 2, 3) splash shield.
6. Install the left front wheel.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Refill the washer solvent container.
9. Inspect the operation of the pumps and the level sensor for leaks.
