Windshield Washer Reservoir: Service and Repair



WASHER SOLVENT CONTAINER REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Open the hood.




2. Remove the plastic retainer (1) from the upper neck of the washer solvent container filler tube (2). The filler is located next to the master cylinder.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the hoist is clear of the left front fender, to allow the lower fender to be moved away from the chassis for clearance.

4. Remove the left front wheel.




5. Remove the left front, lower wheelhouse splash shield fasteners (1, 2, 3). Note the position of the fender for installation alignment.




6. Disconnect the output hose (4) from the washer pump. Drain the contents into a suitable container.
7. Disconnect the headlamp washer output hose (1) by sliding the lock (5) and pulling off the hose.
8. Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) from both washer pumps, and the level sensor.




9. Remove the washer solvent container mounting bolts (1, 2).
10. Remove the washer solvent container. Hold the fender away for clearance.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Transfer washer pumps and level sensor to replacement container.
2. Place the washer solvent container into mounting position.




3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice.

Install the washer solvent container mounting bolts (2).

Tighten the screws to 11 N.m (97 lb in).




4. Connect the electrical connectors (3) to the washer pumps, and to the level sensor.
5. Connect the washer pump output hose (4) to the pump.
6. Connect the headlamp washer output hose (1) to the washer pump. Seat the slide-lock (5) hose clamp.




7. Align the fender, and install the left front lower wheelhouse splash shield, and fasteners (1, 2, 3).
8. Install the left front wheel.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Install a new plastic retainer onto the washer solvent container fill tube.
11. Refill the washer solvent container.
