Front Suspension



Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (AWD)

Tools Required

J 45859 Wheel Hub Remover


Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .

Important: The following service procedure is for those vehicles that are equipped with All Wheel Drive (AWD).


3. Remove the wheel driveshaft nut and discard. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left) .
4. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (RWD) (Service and Repair)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (AWD) (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the wheel speed sensor. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (RWD) (Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement)Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (AWD) (Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement) .





Notice: Avoid tool contact to the outer constant velocity boot seal when removing the wheel bearing mounting bolts. Failure to observe this notice may result in damage to the CV boot.

6. Carefully remove the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts.




7. Using the J 45859 , remove the wheel driveshaft from the wheel bearing/hub.
8. Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the wheel bearing/hub.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .


Notice: Avoid tool contact to the outer constant velocity boot seal when removing the wheel bearing mounting bolts. Failure to observe this notice may result in damage to the CV boot.

2. Install the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts.

Tighten the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts to 135 N.m (100 lb ft).

3. Install the wheel speed sensor. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (RWD) (Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement)Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement (AWD) (Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement) .





Important: The following service procedure is for those vehicles that are equipped with All Wheel Drive (AWD).


4. Install a new wheel driveshaft retaining nut. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left) .
5. Install the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (RWD) (Service and Repair)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (AWD) (Service and Repair) .
6. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
7. Lower the vehicle.
