Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The driver door module (DDM) and the front passenger door module (FPDM) receive a discreet input from the driver door ajar switch and the passenger door ajar switch respectively. Likewise, the body control module (BCM) receives a discrete input from both the left and right rear door ajar switches. The door ajar switches are normally open when the doors are fully closed. When a door is open, the door ajar switch contacts close providing a path to ground. The driver information center (DIC) displays the appropriate door open message when one of the doors is open. The instrument panel cluster (IPC) receives a serial data message from either the BCM, DDM or FPDM indicating the door ajar status. If the message is displayed and the vehicle speed is greater than 8.1 km/h (5 mph), a chime will sound as a reminder of the door ajar status.
This vehicle may also be configured as a limousine or a hearse by various upfitters and as such may be equipped with middle doors or a rear door.

Circuit/System Testing
Driver Door Ajar Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the driver door latch assembly.
2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter and is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
3. Verify the scan tool Driver Door Open Sw parameter and is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground, verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter is Active.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
5. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground, verify the scan tool Driver Door Open Sw parameter is Active.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
6. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and the low reference circuit terminal 4, verify the scan tool Driver Door Ajar Sw parameter is Active.
• If not the specified value, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDM.
7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door latch assembly.
Passenger Door Ajar Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the passenger door latch assembly.
2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Passenger Door Ajar Sw parameter and is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 3 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FPDM.
3. Verify the scan tool Passenger Door Open Sw parameter and is Inactive.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 4 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FPDM.
4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground, verify the scan tool Passenger Door Ajar Sw parameter is Active.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FPDM.
5. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 4 and ground, verify the scan tool Passenger Door Open Sw parameter is Active.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FPDM.
6. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 3 and the low reference circuit terminal 1, verify the scan tool Passenger Door Ajar Sw parameter is Active.
• If not the specified value, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FPDM.
7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the passenger door latch assembly.
Rear Door Ajar Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the appropriate rear door latch assembly.
2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the appropriate ground circuit terminal listed below and ground;
* Left middle door latch assembly terminal 4
* Right middle door latch assembly terminal 1
* LR door latch assembly terminal 4
* RR door latch assembly terminal 1
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Rear Door Ajar Sw parameter is Door Closed.
