Timing Components: Specifications

Timing Chain Tensioner Torque

Primary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner






Important: Ensure the tensioner release lever is facing outward.


Tighten the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Tensioner

Left Side






Important: Ensure the tensioner release lever is facing outward.


Tighten the secondary camshaft drive chain tensioner bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)


Right Side






Important: Ensure the tensioner release lever is facing outward.


Tighten the secondary camshaft drive chain tensioner bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

Crankshaft Pulley Torque






1. Position the crankshaft balancer on the nose of the crankshaft.






2. Press the crankshaft balancer in place using the J 41998-B.






3. Clean the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.
4. Apply engine oil to the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.
5. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.
First Pass: Tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
Second Pass: Tighten the bolt a final pass an additional 120 degrees using the J 45059.

Timing Cover Torque
1. Install the engine front cover bolts until snug.






2. Tighten the engine front cover bolts in the sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in)
