Brake Pedal Assembly Replacement (RHD)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (LHD) (Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (LHD))Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (RHD) (Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (RHD)) .
2. Without disconnecting the front park brake cable, remove the park brake pedal assembly and position aside. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (LHD) (Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (LHD))Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (RHD) (Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (RHD)) .
3. Without disconnecting the steering column from the intermediate shaft, lower and support the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (without JL7) (Steering Column Replacement (without JL7))Steering Column Replacement (with JL7) (Steering Column Replacement (with JL7)) .




4. Disconnect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.




5. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod retaining clip (1).




6. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) from the brake pedal pivot.




7. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).




8. Remove the vacuum brake booster pushrod wave washer (1).




9. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).




10. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).




11. Remove the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).




12. Remove the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).




13. Remove the steering column support bracket (1).




14. Remove the accelerator pedal position sensor (1). Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair) for the 3.6L engine or Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair) for the 4.6L engine.




15. Remove the brake pedal assembly (1) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the brake pedal assembly (1) to the vehicle.




2. Install the accelerator pedal position sensor (1). Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair) for the 3.6L engine or Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair) for the 4.6L engine.




3. Install the steering column support bracket (1).




4. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket (1).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .





5. Install the upper steering column support bracket nuts (1).

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





6. Install the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





7. Install the vacuum brake booster bracket nuts (1).

Tighten the nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





8. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod wave washer (1).




9. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod bushing (1).




10. Connect the vacuum brake booster pushrod (1) to the brake pedal pivot.




11. Install the vacuum brake booster pushrod retaining clip (1).




12. Connect the brake pedal position sensor (1) electrical connector.
13. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement (without JL7) (Steering Column Replacement (without JL7))Steering Column Replacement (with JL7) (Steering Column Replacement (with JL7)) .
14. Install the park brake pedal assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (LHD) (Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (LHD))Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (RHD) (Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement (RHD)) .
15. Install the vacuum brake booster. Refer to Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (LHD) (Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (LHD))Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (RHD) (Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement (RHD)) .
16. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration (Programming and Relearning) .
