Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement

Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement (LY7 - Gas, 6 CYL, 3.6L, SFI, V6, Alum)

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement) .
2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
3. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Loosen the air cleaner assembly front half retaining screws.
5. Remove the air cleaner assembly front half.
6. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose fitting from the power steering pump.
7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service Intervals) .




8. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to the frame mounting bolts.




9. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.




10. Remove the power steering gear inlet hose from the power steering gear.
11. Remove the power steering hose from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the power steering hose to the vehicle.
2. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering gear.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

3. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to power steering gear retaining bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 23 N.m (17 lb in).





4. Install the power steering gear inlet hose to frame mounting bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

5. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement (Front Air Deflector Replacement) .
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Install the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to the power steering pump.

Tighten the fitting to 38 N.m (28 lb in).

8. Install the power steering gear inlet hose quick connect to the fitting.
9. Install the air cleaner assembly front half.

Tighten the screws to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

10. Install the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement (Service and Repair) .
11. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair) .
