Suction Hose Replacement (LH2 - Gas, 8 Cyl, 4.6L, SFI, V8, DOHC, HO, Alum)

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging) .
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service Intervals) .
4. Remove the LH wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Engine Splash Shield Replacement) .
6. Remove the suction hose bolt at the compressor.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the suction hose retaining screw from the clamp.
9. Separate the liquid line from the A/C suction line bracket.
10. Remove the suction hose quick connect fitting at the bulk head. Refer to Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement (Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement) .
11. Disconnect the suction hose from the evaporator core.
12. Remove the suction hose from the vehicle.
13. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
Installation Procedure
1. Install new O-rings onto the suction hose. Refer to O-Ring Replacement (Service and Repair) .
2. Install the suction hose.
3. Connect the suction hose to the evaporator core.
4. Install the suction hose quick connect fitting. Refer to Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement (Air Conditioning Line/Tube Connector Removal/Replacement) .
5. Position the liquid line into the bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
6. Install the suction hose retaining screw into the clamp.
Tighten the screw to 1 N.m (9 lb in).
7. Raise the vehicle.
8. Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
9. Install the retaining bolt to the compressor.
Tighten the bolt to 9.8 N.m (87 lb in).
10. Install the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement (Engine Splash Shield Replacement) .
11. Install the LH wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair) .
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .
14. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging) .
15. Using J 39400-A , leak test the fittings of the component.
