DTC B1300
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
DTC Descriptors
DTC B1300
- Convertible Top/Moveable Roof Header Latched Sensor Circuit
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The folding top control (FTC) module checks the circuits listed, at least once every 300 milliseconds:
* Header latched switch signal of the header latched switch.
* Header unlatched switch signal of the header unlatched switch.
The header latched switch will close to B+, signaling the FTC module when the header latch has latched and secured the folding top when it is in either the closed or stowed position. The header unlatched switch will close to B+, signaling the FTC module when the folding top latch is in the fully unlatched position. This happens when the folding top is between the closed and stowed positions.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The battery voltage is between 9-16 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The FTC module detects inputs from both the header latched and header unlatched switch signal circuits being active at the same time.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The FTC module disables all folding top functions.
* The FTC module sends a class 2 message to the driver information center (DIC), displaying: TOP NOT SECURE.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* This DTC will clear on the current status after the condition for setting the fault is corrected.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.
Diagnostic Aids
The Rear Compartment Lid is also referenced as the Deck Lid for this vehicle.

Circuit/System Verification
1. When the folding top is in the fully closed or stowed position, the header unlatch switch is open, the header latch switch is closed to B+ and the scan tool Header Latch Limit Switches parameter should be Latched.
• If not the specified value, refer to the Header Unlatch Switch Test.
2. When the folding top is unlatched or in between the closed and stowed positions, the header latch switch is open, the header unlatched switch is closed to B+ and the scan tool Header Latch Limit Switches parameter should be Unlatched.
• If not the specified value, refer to the Header Latched Switch Test.
Circuit/System Testing
Header UnLatch Switch Test
1. Open the hydraulic fluid bypass valve located above the pump motor by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Use the FT wrench to manually open the header latch. To access the header latch, refer to Folding Top Manual Operation (Folding Top Manual Operation) .
3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the header unlatch switch.
4. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Header Latch Limit Switches parameter is Mid.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.
5. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and the control circuit terminal B. Verify the scan tool Header Latch Limit Switches parameter is Unlatched.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.
6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the header unlatched switch.
Header Latch Switch Test
1. Open the hydraulic fluid bypass valve located above the pump motor by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Use the FT wrench to manually open the header latch. To access the header latch, refer to Folding Top Manual Operation (Folding Top Manual Operation) .
3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the header latch switch.
Verify the scan tool Header Latch Limit Switches parameter is Latched.
• If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.
6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the header latch switch.
Repair Instructions
