DTC Descriptors
DTC B3669
- Deck Lid Position Sensor Circuit

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The folding top control (FTC) module checks the rear compartment lid open switch signal circuit at least once every 300 milliseconds. The FTC module compares the rear compartment lid open switch signal against the rear compartment lid ajar switch signal, a class 2 message from the body control module (BCM). When the folding top control switch is pressed to open or close the folding top, the rear compartment lid is released and a class 2 message is sent indicating the rear compartment lid is ajar. The FTC module will continue to raise the rear compartment lid upward until it is fully extended, closing the rear compartment lid open switch to voltage. The voltage is then applied through the rear compartment lid open switch and the signal circuit to the FTC module. Once this signal is received, the FTC module can continue to cycle the folding top operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The battery voltage is between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The FTC module monitors the rear compartment lid open switch signal and a class 2 message from the BCM the deck lid ajar switch status. The FTC module will set this DTC, if it senses that the rear compartment lid is open and does not receive the deck lid ajar message.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* Stores a current and history DTC B3669 in the FTC module.
* The folding top operation is suspended.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* This DTC will clear on the current status after the condition for setting the fault is corrected.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.

Circuit/System Verification

1. When the rear compartment lid is closed or in any position other than the fully open/extended position, the scan tool Deck Lid Extended parameter should be Inactive.

If not the specified value, refer to the Rear Compartment Lid Open Switch Test.

2. When the rear compartment lid is in the fully open/extended position, the scan tool Deck Lid Extended parameter should be Active.

If not the specified value, refer to the Rear Compartment Lid Open Switch Test.

3. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Deck Lid Ajar Status parameter while opening and closing the rear compartment lid. The reading should change between Deck Closed and Deck Ajar.

If not the specified value, refer to the Rear Compartment Lid Pulldown Actuator Test.

Circuit/System Testing

Rear Compartment Lid Open Switch Test.
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid open switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal B and ground.

If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Deck Lid Extended parameter is Inactive.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.

4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and the control circuit terminal B. Verify the scan tool Deck Lid Extended parameter is Active.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the FTC module.

5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear compartment lid open switch.

Rear Compartment Lid Pulldown Actuator Test
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator.
2. Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal F and ground.

If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Deck Lid Ajar Status parameter is Deck Closed.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal A for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

4. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal A and ground. Verify the scan tool Deck Lid Ajar Status parameter is Deck Ajar.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear compartment lid pulldown actuator.
