Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The left front interior door handle, left front exterior door handle, right front interior door handle and right front exterior door handle switch signal circuits provide inputs to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) when an interior or exterior door handle switch is activated. These inputs allow the RCDLR to detect a door open request. The RCDLR provides voltage to the door handle switches. If the RCDLR detects that a ground is applied for greater than 180 seconds, a DTC is set and the RCDLR will ignore the door handle switch input.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The RCDLR detects a short to ground on an interior or exterior door handle switch signal circuit.
* Condition must be present for greater than 180 seconds.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

The RCDLR will ignore the door handle switch input.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* You issue a scan tool CLEAR DTCs command.

Diagnostic Aids

The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:

* There is an intermittent short to ground in a door handle switch signal circuit.
* An interior or exterior door handle switch is shorted to ground internally.
* A interior or exterior door handle switch was activated for longer than 180 seconds.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate door handle switch harness connector.
2. Ignition ON, Verify with a scan tool the appropriate Door Handle Switch parameter is INACTIVE.

If not the specified value, test the appropriate door handle switch signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RCDLR.

3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate door handle switch.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* Front Side Door Handle Switch Replacement (Service and Repair)
* Door Latch Release Switch Replacement - Driver Side (Service and Repair)
* Door Latch Release Switch Replacement - Passenger Side (Service and Repair)
* Control Module References (Programming and Relearning)for RCDLR replacement, setup, and programming
