Engine Flywheel Replacement
Tools Required
J 45059 Angle Meter
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the powertrain. Refer to Powertrain Removal and Installation (Powertrain Removal and Installation) .
2. Remove the driveline support assembly. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement (Driveline Support Assembly Replacement) .
3. Use a Snap-On(TM) A144A Flywheel Turner, or equivalent to prevent the engine from turning.
4. Remove the engine flywheel bolts.
5. Remove the engine flywheel.
6. Clean and inspect the engine flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Overhaul) .
Installation Procedure
1. Apply sealant to the flywheel mounting bolts. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants (Specifications) .
2. Position the flywheel to the crankshaft.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
3. Install the flywheel mounting bolts.
4. Use a Snap-On(TM) A144A Flywheel Turner, or equivalent to prevent the engine from turning.
1. First Pass
Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
2. Final Pass
Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts an additional 50 degrees using the J 45059 .
5. Install the driveline support assembly. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement (Driveline Support Assembly Replacement) .
6. Install the powertrain. Refer to Powertrain Removal and Installation (Powertrain Removal and Installation) .
