Folding Top Rear Panel Upper Weatherstrip Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Open the folding top as shown in the illustration.
The distance (A) from the windshield header to the leading edge of the folding top panel is 400 mm (15.75 in).
2. Place a protective covering over the interior and the adjacent body panels.




3. Remove the weatherstrip retainer screws (1).




4. Remove the pushpin retainers (1). One of the retainers is located beneath the weatherstrip lip (2).




5. Pull the bottom of the upper weatherstrip leg to remove the weatherstrip from the folding top panel.




6. Ensure that the retainer clips (1) have stayed attached to the upper weatherstrip leg (2). If the clips have stayed in the folding top panel, remove the clips and install the clips in the weatherstrip.




7. Pull the upper weatherstrip off of the folding top panel flange.
8. Remove the weatherstrip from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure






Important: Ensure that the clips, the pushpins, and the mastic are on the weatherstrip prior to installation.


1. Position the weatherstrip to the vehicle.
2. Install the corners of the weatherstrip (1) to the folding top panel flange (2).




3. Install the remainder of the weatherstrip to the folding top panel above the rear window. Work the weatherstrip from the corners to the center on the vehicle, ensuring that the seal flange (1) is seated behind the rear window (2). Gently use a rubber mallet to ensure full engagement of the weatherstrip to the flange.




4. Install the pushpin retainers (1).




5. Ensure that the lower weatherstrip (2) is seated between the folding top panel (1) and the weatherstrip leg (3).




6. Install the bottom of the weatherstrip leg to the folding top panel.




7. Install the remainder of the weatherstrip leg to the folding top panel (2), using a fiber stick (1) to push the secondary seal (3) behind the panel.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

8. Install the weatherstrip retainer screws (1).

Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

9. Remove the protective covering.
10. Operate the folding top under power through one complete cycle in each direction.
11. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation (Power Folding Top Description and Operation) .
