Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the oil level indicator.
2. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt.
3. Disconnect the coolant surge tank fluid level indicator electrical connector.
4. Remove the surge tank nuts and reposition the surge tank away from the brake master cylinder.




5. Disconnect the master cylinder fluid level sensor electrical connector (1).




6. Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts and reposition the master cylinder away from the brake booster.
7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
8. Pull the oil level indicator tube from the crankcase while rotating it counterclockwise.



Installation Procedure





1. Replace the oil level indicator tube O-ring and lubricate with engine oil.
2. With the aid of an assistant, install the oil level indicator tube into the crankcase.
3. Lower the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

4. Install the oil level indictor tube bolt into the left cylinder head.

Tighten the oil level indicator tube bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb in).

5. Install the oil level indicator.
6. Reposition the brake master cylinder to the brake booster.




7. Install the master cylinder mounting nuts.

Tighten the master cylinder mounting nuts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).





8. Connect the electrical connector (1) for the master cylinder fluid level sensor.
9. Install the coolant surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (Service and Repair) .
