Parking Brake Warning Switch: Service and Repair



Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the LH closeout trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Cluster Replacement) .




3. Remove the park brake assembly attaching nuts (1) and bolt (2).




4. Disconnect the park brake switch electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the park brake release solenoid electrical connector.
6. Position the park brake pedal assembly aside to gain access to the park brake warning lamp switch.
7. Remove the park brake warning lamp switch retainer.
8. Remove the park brake warning lamp switch from the park brake pedal assembly.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the park brake warning lamp switch to the park brake assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the park brake warning lamp switch retainer.

Tighten to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

3. Position the park brake pedal assembly.
4. Install the park brake pedal assembly retaining nuts and bolt.

Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

5. Connect the park brake release solenoid electrical connector.




6. Connect the park brake switch electrical connector.
7. Install the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Cluster Replacement) .
8. Install the LH closeout trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair) .
9. Apply the park brake pedal and release 2-3 times, to assure proper function of the park brake system.
