DTC Descriptors
DTC B1534 02
- Left Rear Door Handle Switch Circuit

DTC B1535 02
- Right Rear Door Handle Switch Circuit

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The left and right rear door handle switch signal circuit provides inputs to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) when the appropriate rear exterior door handle switch is activated. This input allows the RCDLR to detect a door open request. When the left or right rear door handle is activated, the switch closes and the voltage signal from the RCDLR is pulled to ground, the RCDLR will then send a command to the appropriate door module to unlock the door.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The system voltage is 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The RCDLR detects a short to ground in the left rear or right rear door handle signal circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The affected door will not unlock when using the exterior door handle.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

With the doors LOCKED and the keyless access transmitter within 3 feet of the door, open the left rear and right rear doors by using the exterior door handles, the left and right rear doors should UNLOCK and open.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear door handle switch.
2. Ignition ON, test for greater than 10 volts between the signal circuit terminal D and ground.

If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RCDLR.

3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear door handle switch.

Component Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear door handle switch.
2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal D and the ground terminal C with the switch in the open position.

If not the specified value, replace the rear door handle switch

3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal D and the ground terminal C with the switch in the closed position.
4. If greater than the specified range, replace the rear door handle switch.

Repair Instructions
