Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement

J 39400-A - Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging).
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the front air deflector retainers (2).
4. Remove the front air deflector bolts (1).
5. Remove the front air deflector (3).




6. Remove the condenser upper bracket bolts (1).




7. Remove the condenser lower mounting bolts (1).




8. Remove the discharge line bolt (1).
9. Disconnect the discharge line (2) from the condenser.
10. Remove and discard the O-ring.




11. Remove the condenser tube bolt (1).
12. Disconnect the condenser tube (2) from the condenser.
13. Remove and discard the O-ring.




14. Remove the condenser (1).

Installation Procedure




1. If replacing the condenser, add the specified amount of PAG oil directly to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities ([1][2]Capacity Specifications).
2. Install the condenser (1).
3. Install a new O-ring to the condenser tube. Refer to O-Ring Replacement (Service and Repair).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Connect the condenser tube (2) to the condenser.
5. Install the condenser tube bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
6. Install a new O-ring to the discharge line. Refer to O-Ring Replacement (Service and Repair).




7. Connect the discharge line (2) to the condenser.
8. Install the discharge line bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




9. Install the condenser lower mounting bolts (1) and tighten to 5.4 Nm (48 lb in).




10. Install the condenser upper bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 5.4 Nm (48 lb in).




11. Install the front air deflector (3).
12. Install the front air deflector bolts (1).
13. Install the front air deflector retainers (2).
14. Lower the vehicle.
15. Install the power steering cooler mounting bolts. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement (V6) (Service and Repair)Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement (V8) (Service and Repair).
16. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging).
17. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A - leak detector
