Important
Before proceeding with the update, advise the customer that the Address Book, Previous Destination data and Preset data are removed during the SW update. The user will have to input this data when the update is complete.

Important

- Do not eject the disc during the update.
- The system will automatically reset halfway through the update and then continue reprogramming. Do not eject the CD at this time. You may hear radio noise (audio) and/or see images on the display screen. However, the programming event is still in progress.
- Do not turn the ignition off or remove power to the radio during the update.
- Do not leave the disc in the radio after the update.
- Do not give the disc to the customer.
- The software update disc may be used to update more than one vehicle.

Technicians are to update the navigation radio software using a software update disc, P/N 20861623. The software update disc is to be obtained from the GM Navigation Disc Center using the contact information below.

1. Switch the ignition to ON and turn the radio ON.





2. Insert the update disc and wait for the system to indicate it is an update disc and show the update screen.

Note
DO NOT eject the CD until the programming event has been completed. If the CD is removed before the programming event has been completed, reprogramming the radio module will be required.





3. Press the "Update" button once and wait for the system to reset and begin the update. The update will take approximately 11 minutes.
4. The system will automatically reset halfway through the update and then continue reprogramming. Do not eject the CD at this time. You may hear radio noise (audio) and/or see images on the display screen. However, the programming event is still in progress
5. When the reprogramming event has completed, the system will reset again and return to the update screen. The status bar on the update screen will display 100 percent complete (graphically).
6. Press "Cancel" or eject the update disc. The software update is now complete.

Important
You MUST verify that the software update is SUCCESSFUL by performing Step 7.

7. Insert a commercial copy of a music CD into the radio. Turn the volume ON.

^ If the music CD plays , then the update was successful.
^ If the music CD does not play and the following message is observed :
Incorrect disc inserted. Please check the version and the disc number , the update will need to be performed again.

8. After this software update is successfully completed, the disc may be used again on another vehicle.
