Tightening Torques & Sequences

CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS

Right Sequence:




Left Sequence:





Cylinder Head Bolt - M8
First pass 15 Nm (11 lb ft)
Final pass 75 degrees

Cylinder Head Bolt - M11
First pass 30 Nm (22 lb ft)
Final pass 150 degrees

NOTE: DO NOT allow oil on the cylinder head bolt bosses. DO NOT reuse the old cylinder head bolts.

INTAKE MANIFOLD

(DI):




Upper-to-Lower Intake Manifold Bolt 23 Nm (17 lb ft)

Note: For SFI Applications, Tighten the intake manifold bolts in a circular pattern starting at the center (long bolts) and moving outward.

CAMSHAFT BEARING CAP

Right (SFI):

Camshaft Cap Bolt 10 Nm (89 lb in)

MAIN BEARING CAP

Crankshaft Main Bearing Bolt - Inner




First Pass 20 Nm (15 lb ft)
Final Pass 80 degrees

Crankshaft Main Bearing Bolt - Outer




First Pass 15 Nm (10 lb ft)
Final Pass 110 Degrees

Crankshaft Main Bearing Bolt - Side




First Pass 30 Nm (22 lb ft)
Final Pass 60 Degrees

CONNECTING ROD BOLT

First Pass 30 Nm (22 lb ft)
Second Pass - Counterclockwise Back Off to Zero
Third Pass 25 Nm (18 lb ft)
Final Pass 110 Degrees

CRANKSHAFT BALANCER BOLT

First Pass 100 Nm (74 lb ft)
Final Pass 150 Degrees

FLYWHEEL/FLEXPLATE

Engine Flywheel Bolt

First Pass 30 Nm (22 lb ft)
Final Pass 45 Degrees

OIL PUMP

Bolt 23 Nm (17 lb ft)

EXHAUST MANIFOLD
