A/T - Clunk Noise On Turns/Extension Housing Fluid Leaks

EI08107 - 2WD 6L50 RWD Transmission, Clunk Noise While Turning or Leak from Extension Housing, Cracked or Broken Extension Housing (Replace A/T Extension Housing)

Models:
2008-2009 Cadillac CTS (2WD)

with 6L50 RWD Automatic Transmission (RPO MYB)

Supercede:

This bulletin is being revised to include additional model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-07-30-011 (Section 07 - Transmission/Transaxle).

Condition

Some customers may comment on a clunk noise while turning or the customer has noticed a leak.

Cause

Diagnosis of the leak may find that the extension housing is cracked or broken in the area of the mounting boss.

Correction

Replace the transmission extension housing. Refer to Case Extension and Gasket Replacement (6L50) in SI.

After replacement of the extension housing, it is important to set the proper fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check in SI.
