J 42162 Getrag Axle Side Gear Compressor
1. Install the clutch disc thrust washers (108) on the pinion side gears with the bevel facing out.
Important: The clutch discs develop specific wear patterns, and must be reassembled the same way as they were removed.
2. Install the eared clutch disc (110) first, then the splined clutch disc (109). Repeat this patter until the clutch all the clutch disc have been installed.
3. Align all the eared clutch disc (110) before installing the clutch disc assembly in the left or right differential case halves.
4. Install the assembled axle side gear (107) into the right differential case half (105).
5. Install the assembled axle side gear (107) into the left differential case half (104).
6. Using the J 42162 and a press, apply light pressure on the pinion gears to align the pinion differential shaft bores.
Important: The differential pinion gear shaft should move freely in the differential case.
7. Install the differential pinion shaft (103) into the differential carrier.
8. Using the proper punch or a Phillips screwdriver, align the bolt holes between the differential case halves and lightly press them together.
