Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (AWD)

J 45859 Wheel Hub Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the wheel driveshaft retaining nut and discard.
4. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JE5, JL9) (Service and Repair)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J56) (Service and Repair).
5. Disconnect the Antilock Brake System (ABS) electrical connector.
6. Remove the ABS electrical connector from the splash shield.
Caution: Avoid tool contact to the outer constant velocity boot when removing the wheel bearing mounting bolts. Failure to observe this caution may result in damage to the CV boot.
7. Carefully remove the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts.
8. Install J 45859 , CJ129 Universal Hub Puller - Snap-on, 7394 Universal Hub Puller - OTC, or equivalent to the wheel bearing/hub.
9. Using J 45859 , CJ129 Universal Hub Puller - Snap-on, 7394 Universal Hub Puller - OTC, or equivalent carefully disengage the wheel driveshaft from the wheel bearing/hub.
10. Remove the wheel bearing/hub.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the wheel bearing/hub.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
Caution: Avoid tool contact to the outer constant velocity boot when removing the wheel bearing mounting bolts. Failure to observe this caution may result in damage to the CV boot.
2. Install the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts and tighten to 135 Nm (100 lb ft).
3. Install the ABS electrical connector to the splash shield.
4. Connect the ABS electrical connector.
5. Install a new wheel driveshaft retaining nut and tighten to 160 Nm (118 lb ft).
6. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JE5, JL9) (Service and Repair)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J56) (Service and Repair).
7. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
8. Lower the vehicle.
