Condition
Important:
If the customer did not bring their vehicle in for this concern, DO NOT proceed with this bulletin. For all transmission repairs, if the repair action points to replacing the control solenoid valve and transmission control module, proceed with this bulletin.
Some customers may comment on an intermittent MIL/check engine light illuminated. The customer may also comment on transmission shift or driveability concerns.
A scan tool may reveal one or more of the DTCs stored as shown above.
Cause
GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause of transmission concerns caused by the control solenoid valve and transmission control module. Engineering has a need to gather information on vehicles, DURING diagnosis and PRIOR to repair, that may exhibit this condition. As a result, this information will be used to "root cause" the customer's concern and develop/validate a field fix.
Instructions
If diagnosis points to the control solenoid valve and transmission control module as the root cause of the customer concern, before replacement please obtain the following data and contact one of the persons listed below.
^ Capture or record freeze frame or fail records if a DTC is set.
^ Document the diagnostics completed leading to the decision to replace the control solenoid valve and transmission control module.
Contact a GM Engineer.
If the engineer is unable to take your call, please leave the following information in a message:
^ Technician Name
^ Dealer Name and Phone Number
^ Complete VIN and Repair Order Number
If engineering is unable to return the call within one hour, proceed with diagnosis and repair based on information found in SI.
