Oil Pump Outlet Tube Replacement

J 39946 Crankshaft Socket

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Replacement (Oil Pump Replacement).
2. Remove the crankshaft sprocket to oil pump drive friction washer.




3. Align the primary timing marks (1) using the J 39946 .
4. Remove the secondary camshaft drive chains. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Left Side (Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Left) and Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Right Side (Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Right).
5. Remove the primary drive chain tensioner. Refer to Primary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement (Primary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement).




6. Remove the oil outlet tube bolts (1-5).
7. Remove the oil outlet tube.




8. Remove and discard the oil outlet tube O-ring.
9. Clean and inspect the oil outlet tube. Refer to Oil Pump Outlet Tube Cleaning and Inspection (Overhaul).

Installation Procedure




1. Install a NEW O-ring on the oil outlet tube.
2. Apply lubricant to the O-ring.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the oil outlet tube and bolts (1-5) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




4. Ensure the primary timing marks (1) are aligned vertically using the J 39946 .
5. Install the primary drive chain tensioner. Refer to Primary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement (Primary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Tensioner Replacement).
6. Install the secondary camshaft drive chains. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Left Side (Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Left) and Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Right Side (Secondary Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Replacement - Right).




7. Install the crankshaft sprocket to oil pump drive friction washer. The crankshaft sprocket to oil pump drive friction washer outer diameter is 62.0 mm (2.4410 in) and the inner diameter is 45.25 mm (1.7815 in).
8. Install the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Replacement (Oil Pump Replacement).
