128. Crankshaft Balancer Installation




Crankshaft Balancer Installation

Special Tools
* EN 46326 - Flywheel Holding Tool
* J 41998-B - Crankshaft Balancer Installer
* J 45059 - Angle Meter

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (Special Tools)




1. Ensure the friction washer (3) has been installed prior to installing the crankshaft balancer.




2. Position the crankshaft balancer on the nose of the crankshaft.




3. Press the crankshaft balancer in place using the J 41998-B - installer.




4. Clean the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.
5. Apply engine oil to the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

6. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.

1. First pass, tighten to 100 Nm (74 lb ft)
2. Final pass, tighten to an additional 150 degrees using the J 45059 - meter.




7. Remove the EN 46326 - tool from the engine block.
