Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The left front interior door handle, left front exterior door handle, right front interior door handle and right front exterior door handle switch signal circuits provide inputs to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) when an interior or exterior door handle switch is activated. These inputs allow the RCDLR to detect a door open request. The RCDLR provides voltage to the door handle switches.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The RCDLR detects a short to ground on an interior or exterior door handle switch signal circuit for greater than 180 seconds.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

The RCDLR will ignore the door handle switch input.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 malfunction-free ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate door handle switch.
2. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool the Door Handle Switch parameter is INACTIVE.

If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RCDLR.

* Door handle switch - driver exterior terminal A
* Door handle switch - passenger exterior terminal A
* Door handle switch - driver interior terminal B
* Door handle switch - passenger interior terminal B

3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the door handle switch.

Repair Instructions
