Door Lock Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Move the seat to the forward position, with the seat back also tilted forward.
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (Service Precautions).

2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Remove the door sill trim. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the B-pillar trim panel (1). Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair).




5. Remove the mastic cover (1) from the door lock access hole in the body.




6. Remove the fasteners (1) from the B-Pillar mounted door lock (3).




7. Remove the lock (1) from the body access hole.




8. Slide the electrical connector lock (1) to the open position, and remove the connector (2) from the door lock.




9. Remove the fasteners from rear lock cover securing the cables.
10. Unseat the cable sheath ends, and remove the lock cover.
11. Remove the cable ends by rotating the cable a quarter turn to disengage from the lock-actuating lever.
12. Remove the lock from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Remove the rear cover from the replacement lock.
2. Install the cable ends onto the replacement lock by engaging the cable end into the lock-actuating lever, and rotating the cable a quarter turn.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: The rear release is attached to the lock upper lever. The floor mounted release cable is attached to the lower lever.

3. Seat the cable's sheath into the molded lock cover recess, and install the lock cover fasteners. Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).




4. Install the electrical connector (2), and slide the connector lock (1) to the seated position on the door lock mechanism.




5. Place the lock (1) in the B-Pillar body access hole, aligning the fastener (3) holes to the body.




6. Install the fasteners (1) through the cover plate (2) and to the B-Pillar mounted door lock (3) and tighten the screws to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




7. Install a new mastic cover (1) over the door lock access hole.
8. Reconnect the battery.
9. Verify the manual and electrical functions of the lock.

10. Install the B-pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Trim Panel Replacement (Service and Repair).
11. Install the door sill cover. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement (Service and Repair).
12. Move the seat to the original position.
