Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Place the folding top in the up position.
2. Open the rear compartment.
3. Locate the hydraulic pump beneath the carpet in the storage compartment on the driver side of the rear compartment.




4. Turn the pump bypass valve (1) counterclockwise until the valve stops turning.
5. Place a protective covering over the interior and the adjacent body panels.
6. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the antenna ground plate. Refer to Antenna Ground Plate Replacement (Antenna Ground Plate Replacement).
8. Remove the wire harness from the rear compartment lid.




9. Remove the P-clips (1) from the hydraulic and the electrical lines.




10. Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the nuts to the rear compartment lid link.
11. With the aid of an assistant, remove the nuts (3) from the rear compartment lid (1). Remove the lid from the vehicle.

Disassembly Procedure

1. Remove the overslam bumpers from the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the lid striker.
3. Remove the backup lamp. Refer to Backup Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the license lamp. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the high mounted stop lamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).

Assembly Procedure

1. Install the high mounted stop lamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Install the license lamp. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Install the backup lamp. Refer to Backup Lamp Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Install the lid striker.
5. Install the overslam bumpers to the rear compartment lid.

Installation Procedure




1. With the aid of an assistant, position the rear compartment lid (1) to the vehicle. Hand start the lid nuts (3).
2. Apply LOCTITE(TM) Blue, GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the bolts.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Align the nuts (3) to the marks on the compartment lid link and tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb in).
4. Install the wire harness to the rear compartment lid.
5. Install the antenna ground plate. Refer to Antenna Ground Plate Replacement (Antenna Ground Plate Replacement).




6. Install the P-clips (1) to the hydraulic and the electrical lines.
7. Remove the protective covering.




8. Turn the pump bypass valve (1) clockwise until the valve stops.
9. Install the support and the carpet over the hydraulic pump.
10. Close the rear compartment.
11. Verify that the lid is aligned properly. Refer to Folding Top Clearance Gap Specifications (Folding Top Clearance Gap Specifications).
12. If required, adjust the rear compartment lid. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Adjustment (Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Adjustment).
13. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation (Power Folding Top Description and Operation).
14. Install the trim panel to the rear compartment lid. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement (Service and Repair).
