Folding Top Front Panel Quarter Window Adjuster Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Manually open the folding top as shown in the illustration. Refer to Folding Top Manual Operation (Folding Top Manual Operation). The distance (A) from the windshield header to the leading edge of the folding top panel is 400 mm (15.75 in).
2. Place a protective covering over the interior of the vehicle and the adjacent body panels.





Important: The descriptions and the illustrations below represent the driver side quarter window. The passenger side window is similar.


3. If the vehicle is equipped with a jamb nut, loosen the jamb nut (1) from the adjuster rod socket.




4. Remove the ball stud lock ring (1).




5. Remove the adjuster rod socket (2) from the ball stud (1).




6. Remove the spring clip (2) from the quarter window adjuster pin (1).




7. Remove the pin (1) from the quarter window adjuster (2).




8. Remove the quarter window adjuster (1) from the lower pivot link bracket (2).
9. Remove the quarter window adjuster (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Before installing the quarter window adjuster, ensure the adjuster is the same length as the adjuster being replaced.




2. Install the quarter window adjuster (1) to the pivot link bracket (2).




3. Install the pin (1) to the quarter window adjuster (2).




4. Install the spring clip (2) to the quarter window adjuster pin (1).




5. Install the adjuster rod socket (2) to the ball stud (1).




6. Install the ball stud lock ring (1).





Important: A properly aligned quarter window (1) will contact the inner side of the bulb seal (2) at the midpoint of the down slope.


7. Manually close the folding top, until the rear edge of the quarter window starts to contact the bulb seal. Refer to Folding Top Manual Operation (Folding Top Manual Operation).
8. Adjust the quarter window, if required. Refer to Folding Top Quarter Window Adjustment (Adjustments).
9. Remove the protective covering.
10. Cycle the folding top under power through one complete cycle in both directions.
11. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation (Power Folding Top Description and Operation).
