Oil Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair

Engine Oil Pressure Sensor and/or Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine oil pressure switch.




3. Remove the engine oil pressure switch from the oil filter adapter using an oil pressure sender switch wrench (1 1/16") or equivalent.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a new O-ring on the oil pressure switch.





Caution: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution (Component Fastener Tightening Caution).

2. Install the engine oil pressure switch to the oil filter adapter using an oil pressure sender switch wrench (1 1/16") or equivalent and tighten to 16 Nm (12 lb ft).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the engine oil pressure switch.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Adjust the engine oil level to the full mark.
6. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
