Engine Flywheel Replacement




Engine Flywheel Replacement

Special Tools
* J 45059 Angle Meter
* EN 46326 Flywheel Holding Tool

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the powertrain. Refer to Powertrain Removal and Installation (Powertrain Removal and Installation).




2. Remove the driveline support assembly. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement (Driveline Support Assembly Replacement).
3. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair).




4. Install the EN 46326 .
5. Remove the engine flywheel bolts.
6. Remove the flywheel and the reinforcement.
7. Clean and inspect the engine flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Overhaul).

Installation Procedure

1. Apply sealant to the flywheel mounting bolts. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Specifications) for the correct part number.




2. Position the flywheel and the reinforcement to the crankshaft.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the flywheel mounting bolts.

1. Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts a first pass to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
2. Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts a final pass an additional 50 degrees using the J 45059 .




4. Remove the EN 46326 .
5. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the driveline support assembly. Refer to Driveline Support Assembly Replacement (Driveline Support Assembly Replacement).
7. Install the powertrain. Refer to Powertrain Removal and Installation (Powertrain Removal and Installation).
