J 21426 Seal Installer




1. Lightly lube the outer diameter of the seal with axle lube (1).
2. Using the J 21426 (1), install the axle oil seal (2) into the housing (3).




3. Install the differential carrier (2) into the housing (1).




4. Lightly lube the outer diameter of the seal with axle lube.
5. Using the J 21426 (1), install the axle oil seal (2) into the differential side cover (3).




6. Apply a bead of silicone sealant GM P/N 12346286 (Canadian P/N 1095372) (1) 3 - 6 mm (0.118 to 0.236 in) to the side cover (2).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

7. Install the differential side cover bolts (1) and tighten in a criss-cross pattern to 29 Nm (21 lb ft).
8. Install the drain plug and fill the axle with axle lube. Refer to Axle Lubricant Change (W/O Differential Cooler) (Removal and Replacement)Axle Lubricant Change (With Differential Cooler) ().
