Oil Level Sensor: Service and Repair




Engine Oil Level Sensor and/or Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (Without VB6) (Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (Without VB6))Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (With VB6) (Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (With VB6)).
2. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (Service and Repair).




3. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the engine oil level sensor (1).
4. Remove the engine oil level sensor (1) from the oil pan.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

1. Install the engine oil level sensor (1) into the oil pan.

Tighten the engine oil level sensor to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).

2. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the engine oil level sensor (1).
3. Fill the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (Without VB6) (Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (Without VB6))Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (With VB6) (Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (With VB6)).
5. Inspect for oil leaks after engine start up.
