Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
2. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement (Steering Gear).
5. Remove the wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).




6. Remove the power steering pressure hose bracket retaining nut (2) at the cylinder head.




7. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose (1) from the bracket (2) at the frame.
8. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering gear.
9. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the power steering pressure hose (1) in the vehicle.
2. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the bracket (2) at the frame.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering gear and tighten to 34 Nm (25 lb ft).




4. Install the power steering pressure hose bracket and retaining nut (2) to the cylinder head and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
5. Install the wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the power steering gear heat shield. Refer to Steering Gear Heat Shield Replacement (Steering Gear).
7. Lower the vehicle.




8. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump and tighten to 34 Nm (25 lb ft).
9. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
10. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
