Wheel Stud Replacement

Tools Required

J 35917 Ball Joint Remover

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9) (Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9))Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55) (Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55)).




4. Remove the wheel stud at the inner most notch in the knuckle on the caliper side of the steering knuckle.
5. Using the J 35917 press out the wheel stud.

Installation Procedure




1. Install a new wheel stud.
2. Using washers and a wheel nut, pull the wheel stud in position.
3. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9) (Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9))Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55) (Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J55)).
4. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
5. Lower the vehicle.
