Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection
Cleaning Procedure
1. Clean the crankshaft balancer in solvent that is compatible with the rubber.
Warning: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning (Safety Glasses Warning).
2. Dry the crankshaft balancer with compressed air.
Inspection Procedure
1. Inspect the crankshaft balancer for the following:
* Worn or damaged hub-to-crankshaft surface (1)
* Damage to keyway surface (2)
* Worn, grooved or damaged hub seal surface (3) - A crankshaft balancer hub seal surface with excessive scoring, grooves, rust or other damage must be replaced.
* Worn, chunking or deteriorated rubber between the hub and pulley (4)
* Damaged drive belt ribs (5)
* Damaged threaded holes (6)
2. Repair or replace the crankshaft balancer as necessary.
