Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the oil fill cap.
3. Remove the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement)Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement)
4. Remove the oil pan drain plug (3).
5. Drain the engine oil into an appropriate container.
6. Remove the engine oil filter (1) from the engine block (2).

Installation Procedure





Note: Before installing the new oil filter, ensure that the old oil filter seal has been removed. If not, removed the old seal.

1. Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the oil filter (2) to the engine block (1) and tighten the engine oil filter to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
3. Install the oil pan drain plug (3) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
4. Install the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement)Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) (Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement)
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Fill the engine with the appropriate amount and type of engine oil. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities ([1][2]Maintenance) and Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations (Maintenance).
7. Start the engine, check for leaks and correct.
8. Shut the engine off and check the oil level.
9. Install the oil fill cap.
10. Close the hood.
