Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The system is designed so that when the operator approaches a locked vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter, the keyless entry control module will detect the keyless entry transmitter and when an exterior door handle is pulled the keyless entry control module will command the door to unlock and unlatch allowing the door to be pulled open.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, command the doors to LOCK and UNLOCK by using the S84D door lock/window switch-driver, the all doors should perform the LOCK and UNLOCK function.
• If the doors do not LOCK or UNLOCK, Power Door Locks Malfunction (Dead Locks) (Power Door Locks Malfunction (Dead Locks))Power Door Locks Malfunction (Sedan/Wagon) (Power Door Locks Malfunction)Power Door Locks Malfunction (Coupe) (Power Door Locks Malfunction).
2. Ignition OFF, with the doors closed and locked, approach the vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter and pull exterior driver door handle. The driver door should unlock and unlatch allowing the door to be pulled open.
• If the driver door does not perform as specified, refer to Driver Door Handle Switch Malfunction.
3. With the doors closed and locked, approach the vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter and pull exterior passenger door handle. The passenger door should unlock and unlatch allowing the door to be pulled open.
• If the passenger door does not perform as specified, refer to Passenger Door Handle Switch Malfunction.
4. With the doors closed and locked, approach the vehicle with the keyless entry transmitter and pull exterior left rear door handle or the exterior right rear door handle. The appropriate rear door should unlock and unlatch allowing the door to be pulled open.
• If a rear door does not perform as specified, refer to Rear Door Handle Switch Malfunction.
Circuit/System Testing
Driver Door Handle Switch Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
2. Test for less than 30 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Test for less than 30 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the K48 keyless entry control module.
5. Ignition ON, test for greater than 10 V between the signal circuit terminal listed below and ground:
* Signal terminal 2
* Signal terminal 3
• If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S84D door lock/window switch-driver.
6. Ignition OFF, connect the X1 harness connector at the K48 keyless entry control module and disconnect the X6 harness connector at the S84D door lock/window switch-driver.
7. Ignition ON, test for greater than 10 V between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
• If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K48 keyless entry control module
8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
Passenger Door Handle Switch Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B27B door handle switch - passenger exterior.
2. Test for less than 30 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance
* Signal terminal 2
* Signal terminal 3
• If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S84P door lock/window switch-passenger.
6. Ignition OFF, connect the X1 harness connector at the K48 keyless entry control module and disconnect the X6 harness connector at the S84P door lock/window switch-passenger.
7. Ignition ON, test for greater than 9 V between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
• If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K48 keyless entry control module.
8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B27B door handle switch - passenger exterior.
Rear Door Handle Switch Malfunction
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear B27 door handle switch.
2. Test for less than 30 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, test for greater than 10 V between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
• If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K48 keyless entry control module.
4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B27 door handle switch.
Component Testing
Door Handle
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate A24 door handle assembly.
2. With the switch in the open position, test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1.
• If not the specified value, replace the A24 door handle assembly.
3. With the switch in the closed position, test for less than 5 ohm between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1
• If it does not perform as specified, replace the A24 door handle assembly.
